Combined Ph.D. Degrees

As you are considering a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, you should also be aware that we offer combined degree options with other schools at Penn. Students can pursue a combined Ph.D./M.D. with the medical school, and combined Ph.D./V.M.D. with the veterinary school.

Combined Ph.D. and M.D. Option

This program trains outstanding physician-investigators whose clinical practice shapes the path of their future bioengineering research: technological advances for treatment and diagnosis.

Combined Ph.D. and V.M.D. Option

To enable students to gain both research and clinical experience, the Veterinary School offers a joint program similar to that of the Bioengineering Ph.D./M.D.
